The weigh-in for the Naz fight took place earlier today and the weights were as follows:
Naz : 126lbs
Bungu : 125lbs 9ozs
The weigh-in went ahead last night eventually but not without a bit of trouble.
The Naz camp brought along a set of £25,000 electronic scales to the weigh-in and declared that they should be used but they were not approved by the local boxing commission.
When Soto was weighed on the electronic scales he came in at 9 stone 13 ounces, 13 ounces over the limit but commissioner David Sebastian ruled that the fight would go on and that Soto would not have to lose the 13 ounces.
Naz was not happy.
Naz : “This doesn’t happen, not in England or any fight I’ve been in. He’d gone on the scales and weighed nearly a pound over the weight and gets away with it because of the supervisor. Why do we need to scales? The electronic ones are the best. But Soto gets on the scales, comes off and is told there’s no problem. I ain’t mad, because look at his body. In no way is he in the same condition as I am. All I wanted to do was give him pain to get that weight off. He never made the weight and now he must fall. All it shows me is that he’s going to be weak and he’s going to get knocked out.”
Both Naz and Ingle weighed in fine without any problems though it is rumoured that Ingle spent the whole day sweating off a few pounds to do it. Naz was 20 minutes late for the weigh-in sparking rumours that he was over but he said that he had made the weight 3 weeks ago.
