We are reliably informed that the date for the next Naz fight has been set for either the 4th or the 18th November 2000 and should take place in the UK.
No opponent has been signed as yet but the opponent was to be Istvan “Ko Ko” Kovacs who is the No 1 mandatory challenger.
It now seems that HBO have said that Naz cannot fight ‘KO KO’ as he is not a credible enough opponent. Apparently talks are now taking place with the Paul Ingle camp and hopefully a fight can be arranged soon.

Naseem Opponent Struggles

Naz is struggling to find an opponent to fight when he returns to action on October 2nd.
Cesar Soto the WBC Champion is asking for $1.5 million to fight which the Naz camp think is too much.
Lou Di Bella of HBO had the following to say about the next Naz fight :
“American fight fans were thrilled when Naz beat Kevin Kelley on his US debut at Madison Square Garden 18 months ago. When HBO screened Titanic, over half of the 5 million who watched the film, stayed for a delayed tape of the Naz v Ingle fight. Naz was a curiosity to US fight fans, whose entrance especially captured their attention.”

Naseem Opponent Options

Talk in the papers today are leaning towards the guessing of a possible next opponent for Naz with the names Luisito Espinosa and Kennedy McKinney being thrown up as these are fighting later this month.
