It has been reported that Paul Ingle fought for 10 rounds against Naz with torn tendons in his ankle which he damaged after twisting his ankle during his first round knockdown.
Says Ingle : “Every time I turned my ankle I was in agony, but there was no way I was going to show the pain.”
Ingle also spoke about Naz’s punches.
Ingle : “They were hard, but I’ve been hit harder before. In the European title fight, Billy Hardy hit me with one punch which really surprised me. I thought at the time this kid can really dig. It was harder than any of Hamed’s punches. Hamed hit hard, but it was his accuracy and his correct technique that was telling.”
Naz is going to hospital today to have an x-ray on the hand he damaged during Saturdays victory over Paul Ingle.
The hand is bruised and swollen but the Naz camp do not believe it to be broken. A broken hand would hinder Naz’s and HBO’s plans as a fight in July is already being pencilled into the diary.
Naz has a mandatory defence of his title to come soon against Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez who the WBO want him to fight and other choices are Barrera, a rematch against IBF holder Manuel Medina or Vuyani Bungu who’s manager was at the fight on Saturday.
