A British boxing newspaper recently spoke to a number of possible future opponents for Naz and here’s what they had to say about Naz.
| Who | Does Naz avoid people? | What are Naz’s strengths? | What are Naz’s weaknesses? | Who can beat Naz? |

| Joel Casamayor | Not asked | Good fighter. | He’s nothing special | Me |
| Cassius Baloyi | Not asked | One of best fighters in the world | Drops his hands too much. Doesn’t take a good punch. | Me and Lehlohonolo Ledwaba |

Naz has come under fire from many boxing writers for avoiding Juan Manuel Marquez again.
Bruce Williams, writer, Boxing Update: “Juan Manuel Marquez was screwed out of his too-long-overdue mandatory with WBO feather champ Naseem Hamed, who didn’t even have the huevos to come to Puerto Rico and make his own appeal for more dispensations to seek world title unifiers.
Ivan Goldman, writer, KO Magazine: “Should Hamed ultimately forsake his WBO belt to go after another title, it won’t be because he suddenly decided the WBO belt was beneath his dignity. It will be because he’s run out of ways to duck Marquez.”
Teddy Atlas, ringside analyst, ESPN: “Juan Manuel Marquez is a very good fighter. You can tell how good he is by the way Naseem Hamed won’t fight him.”
Max Kellerman, studio analyst, ESPN: “All of the grief people gave Oscar de la Hoya for not fighting the best people should now be directed at Prince Naseem Hamed.”
Marty Mulcahy, editor and publisher, Boxing Wise: “Any boxing fan with a shred of decency or compassion for a fighter who has truly earned the right to challenge for a title should feel a sense of anger at this ruling. Fans have to ask themselves why Hamed has not fought his mandatory challenger in two years. Instead of fighting Jose Badillo, Wilfredo Vasquez, Wayne McCullough and Paul Ingle, he could have faced Marquez and avoided all this nonsense. The main share of the blame however, lies with the WBO, who value the almighty dollar over pride in its organization and the rules it created. The decision to give Hamed two more voluntary defences was simply a classless act out of cowardice by the WBO and a slap in the face of every fighter they rate as contenders.”
