Shepherd Quits At 37
Carlisle’s former IBF super-featherweight champion Charles Shepherd has announced his retirement from boxing.
Shepherd was after a fight with Naseem Hamed but things never happened after much talk.
Shepherd defeated Tom ‘Boom Boom’ Johnson to win the IBF super-featherweight title in July 1999 but lost the belt on his first defence.
Shepherd won 21 of his 35 fights and will now concentrate on unearthing new boxing talent running a new gym at William Howard in Brampton.
